Your Friends have been researching for two years now, and it’s time to present some findings. A participatory performance examining the mechanics of romance.
Friends with Deficits consists of three emerging artists: Amelia Wallin, Lisa Mumford and Maria White. FwD has worked on site-specific work and in theatre spaces around Sydney. In 2010, FwD performed their public work In Light of A Moon at Art and About as well as Brisbane’s Under The Radar Festival. They were also part of Tamarama Rock Surfers’ Late Sessions season, and performed their show another species entirely at the Old Fitzroy Theatre. Friends With Deficits were part of two Freshly Squeezed projects (curated by Stagejuice Collective) in 2010 and 2011. In 2011 FwD worked on Spotlight Bunny with Julie Vulcan and Ashley Scott for Underbelly Arts Festival, held at Cockatoo Island. In the same year FwD devised a new work called On Romance during the Vacant Room residency at PACT, under the mentorship of Clare Britton of My Darling Patricia. In 2012 FwD created an intimate exchange called Romance Revisited for BEAMS festival and The Rocks Village Bizarre. In 2013-2014 FwD are working on a project for Cat Jones’ Transcontinental Garden Exchange. (transcontinentalgarden.net)
